loving the chilled drum entry after the breakdown in the middle, maybe a solo over that (a la 'No Quarter') would go nicely instead of bringing back the C# B A B (a la Stairway) ?

Sounds a bit like "Eminence Front" by The Who. One thing I appreciate about the AdrenaLinn is that it makes for incredibly open beds and/or other sorts of foundations, against which one can do great anthemic leads, counter-leads, etc. However, if one doesn't follow the invitation and make for other avenues, the risk one runs with stuff like this is that it'll just all end up like middling-interesting jam stuff. The repetition of the drums may be the main reason for this negative potential. I'm intrigued by the prospect of using the EP-1 MIDI pedal I have from Moog on the AdrenaLinn and other pieces in the production just to see what it'll do (I had a Moog Voyager but bad financial circumstances forced me to sell it - my THIRD Moog that I've had to sell for such reasons - before I really got to use it at all; however, I still have that EP-1 pedal bought at the same time, so I may as well get some use from it!). BTW, I've been listening to this track as I've been writing this, and it's gotten consistently better as it's gone along. I'd sure like to jam with whoever wrote this (on guitar and/or keys)! Best regards, Roger (roger@rogercloud.com)

Thanks for the comments Roger. I agree about the Adrenalinn and its ability to provide differing sounds suitable for beds or soundscapes.
Generally speaking I don't usually play as much lead type guitar as you'll find on "pretty". I suppose i did it because i could. I had no producer over my shoulder to dissuade me otherwise. Having said that if a do put a solo down i'd hope that it brought something to the piece. And of course the Adrenalinn by its very nature will lead you down different paths. I think my other tracks can demonstrate some of that.
The drums are repetitious but there are subtle differences between sections.
Thanks again for taking the time to give me some feedback.

Hey, nice song. Has a feel of Pink Floyd, The Police, and The Who wrapped up into one. The sections feel a little bit disjointed (transitions only, just feels abrupt like when loops come together). I have a few songs on here that I'd only used drum loops before but recently I got a Roland Handsonic. As a string player it was the perfect way to get into composing drum parts. You should check them out. Nice job, maybe we can collaborate sometime? Jon

Hi Jon,
Thanks for your comments and feedback. Yep I'm not surprised you can hear elements of The Police or The Who with this. They certainly are influences for me. Less so Pink Floyd but still some fantastic songwriting there. Not to mention David Gilmour's guitar playing.
I agree re some disjointedness in some sections. I don’t write complete songs then record them. It’s piece by piece with me. And the transitions between each is vital to overall flow. I’m working on getting better at that. I use drum loops because I have never programmed a drum machine…yuk! ;-)
Yep maybe we could collaborate sometime. Send me a link to your stuff. Maybe I can add something worthwhile.
cheers
